        Do I need to register?

Register or renew as a waste carrier or broker

Work out whether you need to register as a waste carrier or broker, or whether you are exempt. Find out how to apply for, or renew, your registration.

The online service is only available for a new registration or renewal at present. If you want to change an existing registration you must notify us in writing.

Apply by post

If you wish to register or renew your application by post:

Complete the Application form (PDF, 90KB)
Write a cheque for the appropriate fee
Send your completed application and cheque to: Environment Agency, Quadrant 2, 99 Parkway Avenue, Parkway Business Park, Sheffield S9 4WF

Apply online

To apply online you must have:

Read and understood the guidance for waste carriers and brokers above.
Read and understood the Environment Agency’s privacy policy.
Checked you have everything you need before you register.
(you will not be able to save the application while going through it)

The online application will take you about 15 minutes. It will take longer if you have convictions to include and a Post Conviction Plan to write.

Please ensure you enter your details correctly. When you receive your certificate, the details will appear exactly as you entered them on the online system. For example if you entered ‘john smith’ in lowercase, this is how it will appear on your certificate.
